Written by the people who grow the stones
Lab-grown or mined: the honest comparison, from a manufacturer with something to gain.
We make lab-grown, so read this sceptically. Everything below is checkable against an IGI report — including the parts that don’t flatter us.
The question
Lab-grown
Mined
Is it a real diamond?
Yes. Crystalline carbon, same hardness, same refraction. IGI grades it on the same 4Cs scale.
Yes. Formed underground over a billion years rather than in a reactor over weeks.
Can anyone tell?
Not by eye, not with a loupe, not by a jeweller. Only a spectrometer — and the girdle inscription, which we never hide.
Same answer in reverse. The distinction is provenance, not appearance.
What does a 4 ct E VS1 cost?
About a quarter of what an online lab-grown brand charges, because we are the bench.
Many times more at high-street retail, for the same grades on the certificate.
What can you resell it for?
There is no resale market yet — so we became one. 80% of what you paid, back from us, in writing, forever.
A jeweller typically offers 25–40% of the retail price you paid, in exchange credit, not cash.
Which should you buy?
If you want the stone you actually want, at a size you can wear without insuring it separately.
If the billion years matter to you. They matter to some people, and that is a fair reason.
The same budget, drawn to scale
The budget that buys roughly a 0.5 ct mined solitaire buys a 4 ct from us. This is the entire argument, and it is why most of our customers spend what they planned and wear four times the stone.
0.5 ct mined
4.00 ct from us
